The Discovery is seeking artists who notice, listen, wonder, and look for possibility. Those who have immense patience, take joy in sharing and creating, who are flexible to ever-changing conditions, reliable, and who revel in happy mayhem will be best suited for this particular residency which will take place both during museum hours with patrons and behind the scenes in a more studio based setting. Artists must also be comfortable sharing their work and process with museum staff members in order to foster creative learning and skill building. Artists will have assistance in planning programming for staff and museum visitors.
Visiting Artists will create a program catered to children, or with children in mind, to teach in the museum’s Art Alcove from 10:30am-4:00pm on the third Saturday of the month. Applicants are encouraged to create a program in a medium they are practiced in. The museum will provide the artist with a materials allowance and pay the artist a stipend of $500 upon completion of the program.
