Discovery Solar 500 (Grades 5-6, off-site)
Discovery Solar 500
Take your engineering skills to the max when you and a partner join forces to build and race a solar powered race car. You’ll learn all about different types of alternative energy sources and how they work. Spend the week building your car while learning about speed, gear ratios, circuitry, and the role mathematics play in the design and science of your car. See you at the finish line!
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Ages: Grades 5-7
Registration: Members $240, nonmembers $265
Location: Van Gorder Elementary School, 7650 Campello Drive, Sparks
Notes: Early drop-off starting at 8:00am – $20 per week
Waiting list
Camps fill up quickly. If the camp you’d like to register for is full, you can be added to the waiting list by e-mailing your name, phone number, and the name of the camp you’d like to register for, to camps@nvdm.org.
Financial assistance
The Discovery is pleased to offer financial assistance to support the educational needs of children from families that cannot afford the full cost of the museum’s camps. For more information, click here.
Cancellation/transfer policy
The Discovery has a no refund cancellation policy. There is a $20 fee to transfer between camps. If you need to transfer from one camp to another, from one week to another, or make any changes to your Camp Discovery registration, please call 775-398-5954 or email camps@nvdm.org. Please note, you can only transfer to a camp that still have space available.
