10:00am - 5:00pm There’s always more to discover!
In March 2020, The Discovery closed its doors in accordance with State-mandated efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. Like you, we had no idea how much the COVID-19 pandemic would impact our organization, our community, and the world.
Due to our extended closure, we lost critical earned revenue from museum admissions, memberships, field trips, birthday parties, facility rentals, and more. To date, The Discovery has lost more than $1.5 million in earned revenue due to the pandemic, and we anticipate further losses of more than $500,000 before we are fully operational again.
Thanks to our community’s generosity, to date we have raised more than $1.4 million in support of the museum’s Recovery Fund (including $700,000 reallocated from restricted/capital projects). But we need our community’s support to raise the remaining $555,000 needed to recover from this financial crisis.
As a nonprofit organization, The Discovery relies on philanthropic support from donors like you. By donating to The Discovery, a locally founded 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, you’re ensuring access to world-class, hands-on science experiences for everyone in our community. Your gift will support our most urgent needs in this time of crisis.
In this time of urgent need, we are turning to our community for continued support of our steadfast efforts to provide enriching, hands-on science education. Please make a gift of $50, $250, $1,000, or whatever amount you can to help.
Please make a gift today to help ensure The Discovery will fully recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Your generosity will support our ability to remain resilient through this crisis so the museum can serve you and your family for years to come!
