10:00am - 5:00pm There’s always more to discover!
The Discovery is tremendously grateful for our talented, dedicated board of directors who help us make our museum the place in Northern Nevada to experience science. The team at The Discovery is growing every day, and we’re happy to introduce you to our newest board member: Andy Walden.
Andy is currently the Vice President of Marketing at KPS3. In this role, his main goal is to help find the right clients and projects for KPS3 to work with, then help onboard new clients to their team. Andy loves learning about the variety of businesses, nonprofits, and institutions that reach out to them, as he is also focused on increasing his team’s community efforts as well.
Andy has led the accounts of a wide variety of non-profit clients, including Wikipedia, World Wildlife Fund, and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Additionally, Andy has worked with many notable clients such as Google, Ford, Katy Perry, Tahiti Tourisme, Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, Deloitte, and others. This collective work has been recognized with dozens of industry awards. The impressive list of accolades includes multiple Communicator Awards, Web Awards, Daveys, W3s, ADDYs, Summit Creative Awards, and AVA Digital Awards.
Before securing a position on our board of directors in January 2023, Andy was a member of the Development Committee, which he joined last year. These positions, however, are not Andy’s first experiences with The Discovery, as he’s been a fan since before we opened in 2011! At the time, Andy’s boss was helping advise on some of the technical setup of the organization as The Discovery started to form.
When it comes to the future of The Discovery, Andy would like to see more world-class exhibits brought to our community.
“This builds curiosity and excitement in our area, which helps grow our science and engineering communities across all age ranges.”
Andy is also a big supporter of interactive exhibits that educate visitors, as he sees it as the best way to experience museums and leave a memorable impression.
As for his time outside of his various professional duties, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, running outdoors, and traveling. Between coaching his son’s baseball team, building things with LEGO with his daughter, or completing an ultramarathon, there’s always a way to fill the time.
