Join Visiting Tinkerer Kevin Karl, from Visual Design, to paint with a pendulum, make a pinhole viewer, or design a mobile. Originally from the Midwest, Kevin is a local graphic and interpretive designer, photographer, and community educator who often dives into our diverse outdoor backdrop for ideas and inspiration. Kevin will be offering three unique sessions throughout the day:
11:00am — Pendulum Art
Geared toward the younger artist, we’ll play with paint on a very large scale, by swinging from the ceiling!
1:00pm — Pinhole Viewer
It’s more than taking a selfie… have you ever wondered how an image (light) gets into your camera? Find out when you make your own version of a camera obscura.
3:00pm — Mobiles
Create your own interpretation of “balance” when you build on the idea credited to sculpture Alexander Calder.
Our thanks to the Meyer family and Newmont Mining for their generous support of the Visiting Tinkerer program.
