The Discovery is excited to welcome Justin Klatt to the museum’s board of directors. Justin brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to this new role and is looking forward to helping the museum continue to provide the community with exciting ways to experience science.
In addition to being a museum member and visiting with his family, Justin’s connection to the museum began a year and a half ago when he was invited to join the development committee. In that role Justin helped the museum’s fundraising staff connect with individuals, families, and businesses who can provide financial support for the museum.
Justin is a commissioned officer with the Nevada National Guard and was recently appointed as the Director of the J9 Warrior Wellness and Support Services Directorate after spending the past year as the Deputy Director. The J9 Directorate is a comprehensive wellness directorate specifically focused on prevention, risk reduction and resiliency for its members, their families, and veterans throughout Nevada. The J9 incorporates existing Nevada National Guard programs together with new programs that concentrate on awareness and mitigating self-directed harm, violence and substance abuse. Additionally, it aligns current service member and family-based programs and services by placing them underneath a single manager and dedicated staff to better understand broader issues and trends, and to move to resolve them with the appropriate resources and experts.
When asked what he would like to help The Discovery achieve as a member of the Board of Directors, Justin said,
“Though I feel there can already be arguments made that The Discovery already holds this title, I hope to see the museum become the preeminent destination in not just northern Nevada but the state as a whole.”
As someone who was born and raised in the Reno area, Justin is extremely thankful for what The Discovery brings to our community, particularly as the father of three children all under the age of seven!
