Visit The Shop to craft in celebration of Lunar New Year (Tuesday, February 17, 2026). Visitors will be supplied materials for simple circuitry to power LED lights. As we design our lanterns, we will think about embracing courage, balance, and new and exciting opportunities for this next year. Parents are encouraged to help young tinkerers use the tools and materials safely in this space.

The Discovery will be open 10:00am to 5:00pm on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 16, 2026. For more information about what’s happening at the museum, check out the calendar of events or explore exhibitions.

In this playful and exploratory Sound Lab, toddlers will investigate how different objects make sound by tapping, shaking, rubbing, and listening. Using a variety of toddler-safe instruments and sound-making materials, children will explore volume, pitch, and rhythm while developing auditory discrimination, motor skills, and curiosity. This open-ended activity supports early science learning through sensory-rich, hands-on play.
