The Discovery is proud to announce its new slate of board officers and the addition of two accomplished new members to its board of directors.
The new slate of board officers includes the following:
- Board Chair Seema Donahoe, Assistant Dean, School of Public Health, University of Nevada, Reno
- Vice Chair Jay Karpen, CFA, Portfolio Manager, Whittier Trust Company of Nevada
- Secretary Andy Walden, Vice President of Marketing, KPS3
- Treasurer Major Justin R. Klatt, J9 Deputy Director, Nevada National Guard
In addition to a new slate of board officers, The Discovery is also welcoming two new board members — Jamii Uboldi and Leland Davis.
Jamii Uboldi, APR, brings over 15 years of award-winning marketing and communications experience across healthcare, energy, nonprofits and more. As System Director of Marketing & Communications at Northern Nevada Health System, she leads strategic initiatives to grow consumer engagement, advocate for healthcare education and elevate brand recognition. Notable accomplishments include directing marketing efforts for the launch of Sierra Medical Center and four additional facilities. A community leader, Uboldi has served as PRSA Sierra Nevada past president and held roles with Nevada Women’s Fund, Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada and more. She earned her public relations accreditation in 2017.
Leland Davis, COO and Principal Geoscientist at Geologica Geothermal Group, brings over 16 years of expertise in geothermal energy development and consulting. His experience spans geology, geophysics, well design, reservoir engineering and energy technologies, with contributions to projects worldwide, from the Western U.S. to Southeast Asia and East Africa. In 2023, he helped complete a geothermal addition to the Energy/Energía exhibition at The Discovery. Davis also serves on the Board of Directors of Geothermal Rising, the world’s largest geothermal industry association.
Regarding The Discovery’s Board of Directors, Mat Sinclair, President/CEO said,
“Our talented board members bring unique perspectives and expertise that will be invaluable as we navigate 2025. With their insights, we’ll be well-equipped to take advantage of new opportunities and keep The Discovery at the forefront of hands-on science learning.”
In the year ahead, the board will prioritize key financial objectives while furthering the museum’s mission to inspire a lifelong love of science through innovative exhibitions, programs and events.
