10:00am - 5:00pm There’s always more to discover!
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the most generous people in our community; people like you who support The Discovery because they passionately believe in our mission to inspire. It’s one of the many reasons I love what I do, and it’s how I met Jordyn Corkern, one of The Discovery’s monthly donors.
Jordyn learned about The Discovery a few years ago through a good friend. She was looking for a place to nurture her son Lucas’s love of learning, and The Discovery seemed like the perfect fit. Their first visit reignited Jordyn’s love of science and confirmed that Lucas was becoming quite a science enthusiast.
Jordyn explained, “Before I had my son, my dream was to be a science communicator, like Neil DeGrasse Tyson. I wanted to instill a love of science in my son from day one. Lucas’s first books were the ‘ABCs of Science’ and ‘The Solar System.’ When he was around two-years-old, he could tell you what an amoeba was, and it was such a proud moment for me.”
Lucas is now a science-loving 2nd grader who loves math “because it’s fun!” and exploring his favorite exhibit, Energy/Energia. If it were up to him, he would live at The Discovery! Jordyn is grateful to see her son’s love of science grow with each visit and believes people of all ages should have that same opportunity. This inspired her to become a monthly donor.
Become a Monthly Donor Today!“I was looking for a way to be part of something bigger than myself and what better way than to support an organization you adore? I wanted someone, who may not be as fortunate as others to be able to enjoy The Discovery. I was a struggling single mother when I was younger and knowing I can possibly help a single parent with a science loving child makes me proud to be a monthly donor.” — Jordyn
Monthly gifts allow The Discovery to award financial assistance to underserved families and schools. It helps The Discovery plan the featured exhibitions that you and your family love, like Survival of Slowest and Monster Fish. Most importantly, monthly donations provide reliable income the museum can depend on to continue being the place to experience science for generations to come.
“The impact the museum has is amazing and your gift could really help an organization who is already doing good in the community do something even better. We all spend $7-$8 on a cup of coffee more than once a month, so why not change that up and donate monthly to The Discovery instead.” — Jordyn
Jordyn feels good knowing she is supporting a place her son LOVES. And for a mom, sometimes that is the only motivation you need.
