Did you know that every Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:00am The Discovery is open exclusively for families with children age 5 and under? It’s called Small Wonder Wednesdays, and visitors get to explore the entire museum for a full hour before it opens to the public. This program provides younger learners with an opportunity to discover and learn with other children their age. And it gives parents with children of the same age a chance to interact with each other.
Small Wonder Wednesdays include story time tied to a unique theme each week. Upcoming themes include: explore colors, growing, bones, guessing, dinosaurs, and more!
Here is what a few of our visitors recently said about Small Wonder Wednesdays:
“We come to the museum every Wednesday morning. My kids enjoy participating in story time. I like that the museum is less crowded, which gives them more freedom to play.” — Natalia
“This extra hour gives my little ones a chance to avoid the big kids!” — Amanda
“Early mornings are the best time for my kids to explore the museum before an afternoon nap.” — Holly
So make your way to The Discovery every Wednesday for a special morning just for families with children age 5 and under. Hear stories, climb the clouds, create art and enjoy the entire museum before it opens to everyone!
Admission is free for members and $12 for nonmembers ($10 for children). Visitors are welcome to stay the entire day. Pick up a flyer in the Little Discoveries (5 and under) gallery for a list of upcoming Small Wonder Wednesday themes. And there’s always more to discover on our calendar of events!
