The Discovery currently receives approximately 70% of its contributed revenue from private and corporate foundations. Foundation support is a critical source of funding that ensures The Discovery can pursue its mission to inspire by being the place to experience science.
The Discovery applies for support from foundations with focus areas that include:
Unrestricted funding for our daily operations
Educational programming
Science, STEM and/or STEAM education
School field trips
Camps
Volunteer recruitment/training
Traveling or featured exhibitions (temporary)
Hands-on exhibit development
Permanent exhibitions (8-10 year life span in the museum)
Accessibility, e.g. financial assistance program to help underwrite camps, field trips, membership, admission, and more for families who are unable to afford the full cost of The Discovery’s programs
Please contact Melanie Dolezal, Development Officer – Grants and Foundations, at mdolezal@nvdm.org or 775-398-5910 to provide instructions on how The Discovery can apply for support from your foundation. Otherwise, please consider making an unsolicited gift from your foundation today.
