The 10th annual Leprechaun Race, a 5k run/walk held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 raised $4,814 in support of The Discovery’s mission.
“After a two year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is great to be able to hold the Leprechaun Race in-person again,” said Eric Lerude, President of Race178. “We’re proud to continue the fun, family-friendly race that showcases the Wells Avenue, West of Wells and Midtown neighborhoods, and benefits an important community asset like The Discovery.”
The annual race includes a leprechaun who, after giving all participants a generous head start, races to the finish. Racers who finish the race ahead of the leprechaun receive a special prize.
Race178, who owns and organizes the Leprechaun Race, as well as other local races including the Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, made a $3,000 contribution to The Discovery. An additional $1,814 was donated by race entrants when they registered.
To date, Race178 and registered racers have donated more than $48,000 to The Discovery in support of the museum’s mission.
“We are truly grateful for the support Race178 has provided The Discovery over the ten years the Leprechaun Race has been run,” said Mat Sinclair, President/CEO of The Discovery. “We’re proud to be part of an event that continues to draw large attendance and has become one of our city’s favorite community gatherings.”
