The Discovery is pleased to announce that the museum’s Board of Directors has received the 100% Giving Board Award from the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada. The Discovery joins more than 100 organizations and their boards who support their chosen cause by making an annual gift.
Since 2008, the Community Foundation’s 100% Giving Board Award recognizes Northern Nevada nonprofits for the financial support their board members contribute to their organization’s work. In 2025, 107 organizations’ Boards gave back, amounting to $6,572,018 from 1,181 board members.
“Serving on a board is more than giving your time, it’s about publicly showing your commitment to the mission you support,” said CEO Eaton Dunkelberger. “The 100% Giving Board Award honors board members who recognize that philanthropy is essential to advancing their organization’s mission and impact. When we launched this initiative, 13 charities earned the distinction. This year, it is great to see 107 boards stepping up to champion their mission through visible, meaningful giving.”
Established in 1998 as a public charity, the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada has distributed more than $180 million in grants and scholarships from charitable funds created by individuals, businesses, and organizations to strengthen our region. The Community Foundation serves as a community leader, permanent charitable resource, and a philanthropic advisor for charitable giving.
