Volunteers who want to get involved but have limited time can volunteer to help with any of the special events hosted by The Discovery throughout the year. The type and scale vary but include events such as those that introduce new exhibits for donors and members, our annual Chemistry of the Cocktail fundraising event, our sizable community Halloween celebration, and participation in downtown Reno’s Leprechaun Race among many others. All Special Event volunteers will receive brief orientations at the beginning of their volunteer shift.

Minimum Requirements
For this position, orientation and a one-time training session are required. Candidate must be available to volunteer a minimum two-hour shift, twice a month. A background check and drug screening are required prior to the start of volunteering. All Special Event volunteers must be 16 years of age or older or be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers who apply for other positions are automatically eligible for special events.
