The Discovery has an active team of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time and talents to support the museum’s educational mission. Volunteers gain new skills, have new experiences, meet interesting people, and make a tremendous impact on The Discovery’s visitors.
Current volunteer opportunities are listed below:
The Shop Volunteer
The Shop volunteer will help unleash the creative potential of museum visitors through the use of real tools and materials. In collaboration with Museum Educators, volunteers will support and guide visitors of all ages (children under supervision) in the safe use of the tools and supplies while encouraging them to learn, grow, and create.
An Art Alcove volunteer will lend their artistic talents by helping facilitate art projects with children and families. Volunteers will create a welcoming environment that offers visitors an engaging and comfortable space to explore a variety of art projects and techniques.
Create a feeling of welcome and encourage museum visits to exercise their curiosity by exploring the museum and interacting with exhibits and programming.
Provide support for the museum’s wide array of special events including Social Science, Science Distilled, Leprechaun Race, and Chemistry of the Cocktail.
The Discovery is on the go! Our outreach program brings hands-on learning directly to schools, libraries, community centers, and just about any location in the area. As an Outreach volunteer you will inspire participants to investigate our world through the lens of science.
Our Commitment to Diversity
The Discovery is committed to creating a staff that is as diverse as the community we serve. For more information, please read our inclusivity statement.
