Rebecca Reyes is no stranger to community involvement. In addition to her role on The Discovery’s Board of Directors, she is also the Value Based Program Liaison at Northern Nevada HOPES, a member of the Young Professionals Committee with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and has recently joined Junior League of Reno.
In Rebecca’s role with Northern Nevada HOPES, she works to maximize revenue through value-based programs with insurance carriers. This is done by working with various departments throughout the clinic to ensure patients are getting their life-saving, preventative screenings and treatment. Rebecca also monitors workflows and processes that can be implemented to ensure the organization is capturing patient information effectively.
Rebecca joined the board of The Discovery 2021. Her initial exposure to the museum came in 2012 when she was earning a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at the University of Nevada, Reno. Rebecca volunteered at the museum and was excited to see science being presented to the community in a fun and engaging way. Rebecca returned to The Discovery in 2018 when she joined the Community Connections Committee. Rebecca was drawn to the efforts The Discovery was making to reach a broader segment of our region’s population to increase the museum’s impact.
In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys trying new restaurants and new fun activities. She considers herself the foodie of her friend group. Her and her fiancé are adventurous diners and are always looking for ways to explore foods from different cultures and sample food cooked in unique ways.
Rebecca also loves learning. She is currently pursuing her Executive MBA and expects to complete the program in August 2022.
In the future, Rebecca hopes to see The Discovery reach all the milestones outlined in the museum’s strategic plan. She is certain that achieving the goals outline in the plan will help the museum continue to have a positive impact in our community.
