The Discovery’s EMPOW[HER] Collective for Women & Girls in STEM will expand the museum’s programming for girls with the goal of keeping them engaged with STEM throughout their education. Women remain underrepresented in STEM career fields – this initiative will be a catalyst to change that. The collective will be comprised of women working in STEM as well as undergraduate and graduate students studying these fields. Through mentorship, networking, and hands-on programming developed and implemented by women in this collective, women and girls of all ages will collaborate to build a community, giving rise to the next generation of female STEM professionals.
The EMPOW[HER] Collective will provide a variety of ways for girls to engage with STEM, and a multitude of opportunities for women working in STEM fields to help create the next generation of female STEM professionals:
Hands-on programming designed by Collective Members and focused on a specific STEM field, offered on select Saturdays in The Discovery’s Microsoft STEM Lab
Girls STEM Career Exploration Fair
Student showcase celebrating undergraduate and graduate student research
Career exploration at local STEM organizations and businesses
To learn how you can get involved with the EMPOW[HER] Collective, join us at the kick-off mixer on Thursday, September 25, 2025 · 5:30 – 7:30pm here at The Discovery.
