Membership Policy
Membership Enrollment
Membership enrollment is accepted online at www.nvdm.org, by phone 775-786-1000, at the museum’s admissions desk, and at various special events inside and outside the museum.
Primary Member
One adult age 18 or older must be listed as the primary member on each membership.
Children
Children under the age of 18 living in the same household as the primary member must be designated on memberships. First name, last name and date of birth are required. Children over the age of 18 with special needs may be included on a membership, but must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the museum.
Additional Adults or Children
For an additional fee, up to two additional adults, either from the same household or from another, can be added to a membership. Additional children, including the children of the additional adults, cannot be added unless they reside in the same household as the Primary Adult on the membership. Additions are not allowed on Individual or Dual memberships.
Annual Guest Pass
An annual guest pass allows for one guest per membership, per visit. Guest must be accompanied by an adult member whose membership includes an Annual Guest Pass. Annual guest pass is not valid when visiting other museums as part of ASTC’s Passport (reciprocal admission) program.
Grandchildren
Grandparents may include their grandchildren on the membership at the Dual, Family and Traveling level.
Member Visits
At least one adult over age 16 must be present for any member visit. The adult must provide proof of identity such as a valid driver’s license or other photo ID at the admissions desk. The only exception to this rule is:
- If a member child is visiting without the adult on their membership (i.e. with another family), museum staff will verify membership status. Otherwise standard admission rates apply.
Free Member Admission Exclusions
Free member admission does not apply to field trips, group visits or special events such as Social Science, Science Distilled, Halloween Trick or Treat and Chemistry of the Cocktail.
Membership Cards

ASTC Passport Program
Get the most out of your membership! Members with a Traveling level membership are eligible for free or reduced admission at over 365 museums and science-technology centers around the world. Not all institutions participate in this program, so be sure to check the list before you visit. For more information, visit astc.org/passport.
Transferring Memberships
Your membership card(s) and associated privileges are not transferable to any other individual or family. Your membership has tremendous value. To protect the rights of our members, we may ask to see your photo ID, such as a driver’s license, at the time of your visit. For a $10 fee the secondary adult on a membership may be changed once during the membership term.
Membership Refunds
The Discovery does not offer refunds for any reason on a membership where benefits have been utilized by the member(s). Benefits include, but are not limited to, free admission, discounted event tickets, camp registrations, and attendance at members-only events.
Membership Guidelines
Memberships are revocable licenses. The museum reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership and/or deny admission without refund for non-compliance with applicable rules and terms or for inappropriate conduct. Membership levels, benefits, and prices are subject to change without notice.
