10:00am - 5:00pm There’s always more to discover!
Dear Discovery friends, fans and supporters,
My name is Katherine, and I am writing to you today as a proud parent, with a heart full of appreciation for The Discovery, a place that has profoundly impacted my 11-year-old child’s educational growth and has the power to ignite the imaginations of countless others.
I remember my son’s first visit to The Discovery like it was yesterday. Vihaan was just two-years-old and completely captivated by the interactive world around him. It was at that moment that my husband and I realized that The Discovery is more than a museum, it is a safe space where our son can nurture his sense of wonder.
Vihaan has had many enriching visits since then that have undoubtedly shaped who he is today. As parents and life-long learners ourselves, it was an easy decision to become donors to The Discovery. Throughout the years, it has been a gift to witness our son discover that he can achieve anything he sets his mind to.
Please join me in supporting The Discovery by making a gift of $50, $100, $250, $500, or any amount you can by December 31, 2023, so the museum can continue to inspire you and your family through STEAM-related exhibitions and programming.
“The Discovery is so important to me. I love building stuff and it was amazing to learn woodworking skills at Camp Discovery. I’m big into engineering, so I love to design and build.” — Vihaan, 6th grade student
Nearly a decade after Vihaan first walked through The Discovery’s doors, it is still his favorite place. Even on his most recent trip to the museum, his face lit up while exploring his favorite exhibit, Da Vinci’s Corner. When I asked him why it’s his favorite place, Vihaan smiles and says, “I love that the exhibits are very interactive, and I always make new memories every time I visit—new, special, and fun memories!”
Whenever you see a child’s face light up with a smile while they’re discovering something new, let it serve as a reminder that both you and I were once children, filled with wonder and curiosity. I ask you to make a gift today not only for your children, and our community, but for the inner child within you, the one that exclaims “Woah!” when you learn something new. Your gift has the power to keep that sense of wonder alive for generations to come.
“It’s important to donate to The Discovery so the museum has enough money to pay for the exhibits. It’s also important because we need great staff. If we didn’t have those staff members, they wouldn’t be able to share their expertise.” — Vihaan, future philanthropist
If you have any questions or would like to share why you chose to give today, I encourage you to reach out to Lauren Landman at The Discovery at (775) 398-5912 or llandman@nvdm.org. I know from experience that the museum staff would absolutely love to hear from you.
Thank you for making a gift in appreciation of what this invaluable resource has done for our community. No matter the amount, your support ensures The Discovery remains accessible to all, nurturing the curious minds of our children, future generations, and the inner child in all of us.
With heartfelt admiration,
Katherine Baghel
