Membership Policy

Contact Information
Contact information, including e-mail address, phone number and mailing address are required on all memberships 

Adults
One adult age 18 or older must be listed as the primary member on each membership.

Children
Children age 17 and under, living in the same household as the primary member, must be designated on all memberships. First name, last name and date of birth are required.

Grandchildren
Grandparents may purchase a Dual, Small Family, or Large Family level membership and include their grandchildren.

Additional Adults or Children
Up to 2 additional adults can be added to a Small Family level membership. Up to 2 adults or children can be added to a Large Family level membership. Additional children must reside in the same household as the Primary Adult on the membership. Addition adults may reside in the same or a different household (i.e. grandparent or caregiver). Additions are not allowed on Individual or Dual level memberships.

Annual Guest Pass
An annual guest pass allows for one guest per membership, per visit. Guest must be accompanied by an adult member whose membership includes an Annual Guest Pass. 

Member Visits
At least one adult over age 16 must be present for any member visit. The adult must provide proof of identity such as a valid driver’s license or other photo ID at the admissions desk. The only exception to this rule is:

• If a member child is visiting without the adult on their membership (i.e. with another family), museum staff will verify membership status. Otherwise standard admission rates apply. 

Digital Membership Cards
Membership cards for all membership levels are now digital. If you would prefer printed membership cards, please e-mail memberships@nvdm.org to let us know.

Photo I.D. Requirement
To protect the rights of our members, we will ask to see your photo ID, such as a driver’s license, at the time of your visit. 

Exceptions to Free Member Admission
Free member admission does not apply to school field trips, group visits, birthday parties or special events such as Halloween Trick or Treat, Social Science, Science Distilled and Chemistry of the Cocktail.

ASTC Passport Program
All memberships include the ASTC Passport Program which includes free or reduced admission to over 400 museums and science-technology centers throughout the U.S. and around the world. Free or reduced admission does not apply at museums within a 90-mile radius of The Discovery. For more information, visit astc.org/passport. 

Transferring Memberships
Your membership card(s) and associated privileges are not transferable to any other individual or family.

Membership Refunds
The Discovery does not offer refunds for any reason on a membership where benefits have been utilized by the member(s). Benefits include, but are not limited to, free admission, discounted event tickets, camp registrations, and attendance at members-only events.

Membership Guidelines
Memberships are revocable licenses. The museum reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership and/or deny admission without refund for non-compliance with applicable rules and terms or for inappropriate conduct. Membership levels, benefits, and prices are subject to change without notice.
