Hands-on DNA Lab
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is a molecule found inside cells that carries the genetic information needed for an organism to develop and function, essentially acting as the “blueprint” for life. In this hands-on activity in The Discovery’s Microsoft STEM Lab, participants will explore DNA from protein folding to strawberry DNA extraction, learning what DNA is, how it works, and why it is so important.

Robot Faces Research Study
Join our friends from the University of Nevada, Reno to experiment with robot facial expressions. Facial expressions can be critical in day-to-day communication, but many traditional robot faces lack expressiveness and flexibility. 13th Annual Leprechaun Race
Can you outrun a leprechaun? Find out at the 13th Annual Leprechaun Race on Sunday, March 16, 2025. This family-friendly 5K run/walk starts and finishes at The Discovery and will take you on a tour through the streets of the Midtown and Wells Avenue neighborhoods. Today is the day! Get ready to explore hands-on science all summer long with Camp Discovery. Camps are available for students entering 1st through 7th grades from June 9 through August 8, 2025. In addition to camps here at The Discovery, Camp Discovery will also be hosting camps at schools throughout Reno and Sparks.
