Seema Donahoe joined The Discovery’s Board of Directors in early 2021, but her involvement with the museum dates all the way back to before the museum opened to the public. She remembers standing in the former Reno City Hall building before construction of the museum had begun, wondering how great the addition of a hands-on science museum was going to be for our community.
Now, ten years later, as a member of the board, Seema wants to help the museum continue to grow and thrive. She hopes to help The Discovery innovate in a manner that allows it to be a fixture in our community for generations to come.
When asked about her involvement at the museum, Seema said:
“The Discovery and what it offers is essential to a thriving community. There’s immense power in STEAM to connect future thinkers and creators to the promise of tomorrow, as well as to inspire wonder in people of all ages to be open to learning and re-learning.”
Seema is currently the Economic Development Marketing Program Manager for the City of Reno. In her role, she shares the story of the biggest little city and is responsible for overseeing marketing campaigns, fostering relationships with stakeholders, and driving initiatives to promote economic growth in our region.
Outside of work and her position on The Discovery’s board, Seema relishes time with family and friends. She enjoys cooking and has missed gathering with friends and loved ones to share a meal during the limitations imposed by the pandemic. She also loves staying active and taking in all that our community has to offer. Her love of community fuels her desire to make sure The Discovery remains an accessible learning hub for everyone.
