10:00am - 5:00pm There’s always more to discover!
Stacy Kendall encourages the community to see The Discovery as a long-term investment in our youth and our future. She views the museum as a resource dedicated to growing kids that are lifelong learners, and a way to foster interest in well-paying career options in the fields of science, math, and technology. For her, The Discovery is helping to fill a gap in access to STEM opportunities in our community. And that’s why she joined the museum’s board of directors in 2015.
Stacy, her husband Stuart, and their daughter became members when the museum opened in 2011. Over the last five years she has continued to visit and, like many families in the community, was excited to have such a great local resource. Then in 2015, Stacy began to learn more about The Discovery’s mission and vision as part of the team from Renown Health who contributed to the museum’s new Inside Out: an Anatomy Experience exhibition.
“It was really at that point that I knew I wanted to be part of something very special happening at The Discovery. I was witnessing an evolution—there was very clear momentum to become something even greater with a focus on expanded science, technology, engineering and math opportunities for our community’s kids. This was so important to me and my family.”
Stacy is Director of Communications and New Media at Renown Health, northern Nevada’s largest private, not-for-profit health system. She is part of an integrated marketing and communications team and leads the organization’s corporate communications including digital communications, social media, public relations, crisis communications, as well as internal communications for the company’s 6,000 employees. Her team has been nationally recognized for Renown’s online patient experience and social media presence. Additionally, Stacy’s team has received numerous local awards for crisis communications response, grassroots employee communications, content marketing, earned media, and others.
Stacy is energized by The Discovery’s vision to create interest and engagement in science in our community — for kids and adults alike. She hopes you’ll join her and other dedicated members of our board at one of our upcoming events to learn more about The Discovery.
