Whether about the pandemic, wildfires, extreme weather, or other crises, we are now accustomed to seeing headlines with terms like “unprecedented”, “record-breaking”, or “increasing magnitude and intensity”. While these apocalyptic words might make some want to run for the hills, an entire generation of students are choosing career paths that will bring them directly into the eye of the storm.
What is it like to be a student choosing these careers, knowing there are urgent challenges ahead? This Science Distilled event will feature student-driven research on extreme weather, wildfire, and public health. To get to know the people behind the science, we will hear their perspectives on the resilience, grit, and resourcefulness needed to pursue these paths and face these monumental problems.
Join us for an evening of inspiring “real talk” with four local students at undergraduate and graduate levels solving today’s biggest challenges. We invite you to bring you own questions on their perspectives for the panel discussion that will follow their talks.
Doors open at 7:00pm, presentation begins at 7:30pm
