Does your outreach program offer in-person labs to classrooms in schools?

We currently do not offer labs to classes in schools. We, however, are working on bringing Discovery facilitated experiences to the classroom soon. If you are interested in having The Discovery in your classroom, please fill out the interest form below. We will contact you once we have a program up and running.
Does your outreach program offer virtual labs or museum tours to schools?

We currently do not offer virtual experience at this time. If you are interested in having The Discovery present virtually to your classroom, please fill out this form to help us determine the demand for this type of programming. If we choose to offer this type of programming, we will notify you when it is available.
What are the future plans for the Outreach Program?

The Discovery is embarking on plans for a statewide outreach program in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). We aim is to help provide engaging STEM education to students and curious minds of all ages across Nevada, into communities large and small.
Who runs the event?

The Discovery will provide all the needed staff members to facilitate all aspects of the outreach.
Do I need to provide any supplies or materials?

No, The Discovery will provide all supplies for any lessons, science demonstrations, or activities. We do not have the ability to take electric generators. Any need for electricity will have to be provided by the site.
What kind of activities/lessons do you offer?

We have a variety of hands-on lessons that are mainly focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). We understand that the needs of your event are very different than others and will work with you to make sure the lessons or activities reflect your needs.
Do you do free outreach events?

The Discovery participates in a few promotional outreach events throughout the year. If you are interested, please fill out the form on our Outreach page and we will contact you for further details.
How far do you travel for an event?

Currently, we participate in outreach events in Northern Nevada and Northern California.
Do you have a set pricing structure for your Outreach program?

Since all outreach events are slightly different, we customize the pricing based on many different factors such as: length of the event, number and types of activities, staffing needs, location, etc. Please contact us to receive more information on outreach pricing.
Do you do large scales events?

Yes, The Discovery does not limit the size of outreach events. We’ve done events with less than 100 people up to thousands spanning multiple days.
Can The Discovery bring any featured exhibits out to my event?

Although we cannot take any permanent exhibits on the road, we can take a few portable exhibits that may be on display. These are limited by size and weight and must be approved by our Exhibits Manager.
