Working in collaboration with the The Discovery’s Outreach Educator, volunteers will support and guide visitors of all ages in hands-on science activities and be the “face” of the museum in the community. A volunteer’s duties will be, but are not limited to: assisting with set up and tear down of The Discovery booth and table, helping staff prepare and facilitate outreach activities, engaging with table visitors of all ages, and creating an experience that leaves them wanting more!

Duties
Assisting with set up and tear-down of the Discovery booth, table and activities
Interacting with and engaging visitors of the Discovery booth
Monitoring for and alerting staff to low supplies
Resetting of the activities
Assisting in creating an environment of safety and inclusion
Monitoring for safe use of equipment
Assisting with organization and packing of outreach materials
Minimum Requirements
All Outreach volunteers must be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult and have reliable transportation to and from an event. For this position, orientation and a one-time training session are required. Candidate must have the ability to lift, scoot, push and pull 50 pounds. A background check and drug screening are required prior to the start of volunteering.
