Science of the Seasons/Sound Science (Kindergarten)
Note: For Camp Discovery’s summer 2020 session, morning and afternoon kindergarten camps have been combined into full-day camps. For details, please see our Camp Discovery COVID-19 Response.
Science of the Seasons
In this camp you’ll explore, though hands-on art and science, seasonal changes. Each day of the camp will explore a different season and the weather that is usually experienced on that day. For example on the spring-themed day, campers will learn about what happens when it’s time for Earth to wake up for spring. Campers will make planes, kites and rainbow spinners. On the winter-themed day they will explore snowflakes and explore other ice science.
Little scientists and musicians will get into the groove in this camp focused on the physics of sound. Through fun, hands-on experiments, you’ll explore the variety of materials used to make musical instruments, try your hand at playing a variety of instruments found in an orchestra, and even play a very strange instrument called a Theremin.
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm Ages: Kindergarten Registration: Members $240, nonmembers $265 Notes: Early drop-off starting at 8:00am – $20 per week; Late pick up 4:00-5:30pm – $30 per week
