Rock & Roll

What did the boy volcano say to the girl volcano?—I lava you! In this hands-on camp, budding geologists will explore the mysteries of the Earth through rocks! Make your own fossil, and check out real ones. Feel the difference between different types of rocks. Create your own pet rock, and make a model of an active volcano. Along with these fun activities and experiments, we will play games, do some rock-inspired art, and have plenty of time to explore the museum, too.

Very Hungry Camper

Crawl into the wonderful, colorful, engaging world of books by author and illustrator Eric Carle. Campers will explore art, science, and teamwork as they recreate the stories they’ve read through innovative projects and experiments.

Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Ages: Kindergarten
Registration: Members $240, nonmembers $265
Notes: Early drop-off starting at 8:00am – $20 per week; Late pick up 4:00-5:30pm – $30 per week

Waiting list
Camps fill up quickly. If the camp you’d like to register for is full, you can be added to the waiting list by e-mailing your name, phone number, and the name of the camp you’d like to register for, to camps@nvdm.org.

Financial assistance
The Discovery is pleased to offer financial assistance to support the educational needs of children from families that cannot afford the full cost of the museum’s camps. For more information, click here.

Cancellation/transfer policy
The Discovery has a no refund cancellation policy. There is a $20 fee to transfer between camps. If you need to transfer from one camp to another, from one week to another, or make any changes to your Camp Discovery registration, please call 775-398-5954 or email camps@nvdm.org. Please note, you can only transfer to a camp that still have space available.
